Lichen Planus That Won’t Let Up? A Root-Cause View

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

If you’re dealing with lichen planus, you know how stubborn and frustrating it can be — the flares, the discomfort, the sense of treating the surface while something underneath keeps driving it.

The skin is rarely just “a skin problem”

Here’s the perspective I find most helpful: the skin is rarely just “a skin problem.” It’s one of the body’s largest messengers, and inflammatory skin conditions often reflect what’s happening deeper — in your immune balance, your inflammation, your stress, your whole terrain. Treating only the surface can leave the real driver untouched, which is why flares so often return. A whole-body, root-cause view asks what’s fueling yours.

Looking at the whole picture — alongside your dermatologist

As Naturopathic Doctor Randi Shannon, I support people with stubborn skin conditions by looking at the whole picture — always alongside your dermatologist and medical team, never in place of them.

What I offer

I won’t hand you a protocol here, and I won’t promise a cure. What I offer is a thorough look at the whole you, and a real partner in getting to the bottom of it.

Ready to look beneath the surface?

Natural, Whole-Body Support for Trigeminal Neuralgia

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

Few things are as relentless as trigeminal neuralgia. The pain is severe, unpredictable, and exhausting — and many people feel they’ve run out of avenues. If that’s where you are, I want to offer both honesty and hope.

Honesty first

Trigeminal neuralgia is a serious neurological condition, and your medical team’s care is essential — please keep it. Naturopathic support is not a replacement for that. Where a whole-body approach can add value is in caring for the surrounding picture — your inflammation, your stress, your nutrition, your overall resilience — the terrain in which any condition either eases or worsens. So often, that whole-person layer is the piece no one has tended.

Working alongside your medical team

As Naturopathic Doctor Randi Shannon, I work alongside your medical team to support the whole you, with compassion and a willingness to take your suffering seriously when it feels like no one else has.

What I can offer

I won’t promise to take it all away. I will offer thorough, individualized, whole-body support — and a partner in your corner.

Living With Scleroderma: A Whole-Body Naturopathic Perspective

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

Scleroderma can feel like a condition no one really talks about — rare, complex, and often managed without much attention to how you actually feel day to day. If you’re living with it, I want you to know your whole experience matters, not just the diagnosis on the chart.

Where whole-body support adds value

Your rheumatologist and medical team manage the condition itself, and that care is essential. Where a whole-body, naturopathic perspective adds value is in supporting everything around it — your nutrition, your energy, your inflammation, your other conditions, and your quality of life. Autoimmune and connective-tissue conditions rarely exist in isolation; they’re woven into your whole terrain, and tending that terrain can matter more than people are often told.

Complementary care, alongside your specialists

As Naturopathic Doctor Randi Shannon, I provide complementary support that works alongside your specialists — never replacing them — for people who want to care for the whole of themselves through a difficult diagnosis.

Whole-person care, no false promises

I make no cure promises. I offer something different: thorough, compassionate, whole-person care, and a partner who sees more than your label.

Want whole-body support alongside your care?

Still Struggling With Lyme? A Whole-Body Natural Approach

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

Few conditions are as exhausting — or as lonely — as lingering Lyme. The fatigue, the aches, the brain fog, the sense that you’ve seen everyone and still don’t have answers. If that’s you, please know: you’re not imagining it, and you’re not without options.

Why lingering Lyme is rarely about just one thing

Here’s the perspective I bring after years of working with people in exactly this place: lingering Lyme symptoms are rarely about just one thing. They involve the whole system — your energy, your immune function, your inflammation, your other conditions, your terrain. Approaches that look at only one piece often miss why someone stays stuck. A whole-body view asks a different question: not just “what’s the infection,” but “why is this body struggling to recover, and what does it need?”

Working alongside your medical team

I work alongside your medical team — never in place of it — to support the whole person through this. I can’t promise a cure, and I’d never insult you by pretending to. What I can offer is a thorough, individualized, whole-body approach and a partner who takes your suffering seriously.

A second perspective

If you’ve been told there’s nothing more to do, I’d be honored to offer a second perspective.

Can You Lower High Blood Pressure Naturally?

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

If you’ve been put on blood pressure medication and told you’ll likely be on it “for life,” I understand why that feels discouraging. So here’s a more hopeful — and honest — perspective: for many people, blood pressure responds remarkably well to natural, whole-body changes, and in my experience some are able to lower their numbers significantly and, with their doctor’s guidance, reduce what they rely on.

Why blood pressure responds to whole-body change

Because blood pressure isn’t a random number — it reflects what’s happening across your whole system: your stress, your sleep, your weight, what you eat, and how your body is functioning underneath. Those are deeply changeable. When you address what’s actually driving the pressure, the body often follows.

The essential guardrails

The essential guardrails, every time: this varies by person, it’s not a promise, and you must never stop or adjust a blood pressure medication on your own — that can be dangerous. We work with your doctor, who tracks your readings and safely adjusts as things improve.

An invitation to stay curious

I won’t lay out the specifics here — the right plan is individual to you. But if you’ve resigned yourself to “for life,” I’d gently invite you to stay curious. For a lot of people, there’s more possible than they were led to believe.

Curious what your numbers could do?

Can Type 2 Diabetes Be Reversed Naturally?

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

It’s one of the most-searched health questions there is — and one most people are quietly told “no” to. So let me give you an honest, hopeful answer: for many people, type 2 diabetes can go into remission — meaning blood sugar returns to a healthy range — through natural, lifestyle-based change. This isn’t fringe wishful thinking; remission is an increasingly recognized possibility in the research, and in my own experience over 20+ years, I’ve seen it again and again.

Why remission is even possible

Here’s why it makes sense: type 2 diabetes is, at its core, a problem of how the body handles blood sugar and insulin — and that is profoundly influenced by the things you do every day. Change the inputs that drive it, and the body can often respond in ways that surprise people who’d been told this was a one-way road.

The honest guardrails

Now the honest guardrails, because they matter: this is not a guarantee, results vary from person to person, and it depends on factors like how long you’ve had it. And critically — never stop or change a diabetes medication on your own. This work is always done with your doctor, who monitors your numbers and adjusts medications safely as things improve.

What this means for you

I’m not going to hand you a protocol here, because the right plan depends entirely on you. But I want you to leave knowing this: the door many people are told is closed is, for a great many, very much open. And helping people walk through it is some of the most rewarding work I do.

Wondering what’s possible for you?

Can the Body Really Heal Naturally? An Honest Answer

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

“The body can heal itself.” It’s an inspiring line — and also one that deserves an honest answer, because false hope helps no one.

So here’s the truth as I see it after 20+ years: your body has a remarkable, built-in drive toward balance and repair. Give it the right conditions — and remove the things working against it — and it can do far more than most people are led to believe. I’ve watched it again and again.

But honesty cuts both ways. Natural healing is not magic, and it is not a replacement for the medical care you need. Anyone promising to “cure” or “reverse” a serious condition with a supplement or a cleanse is selling something. Real change comes from supporting the whole person — nutrition, root causes, the terrain — consistently, and alongside excellent medical care, not instead of it.

That’s the heart of how I work, and it’s literally my name: The Body Can. Not “the body will, instantly, no matter what.” But the body can — given the right support, the right plan, and a partner who treats the whole of you.

If that’s the kind of hope you’ve been looking for — grounded, honest, and whole-person — I’d be glad to help.

Diabetes and Your Kidneys: The Connection No One Explained

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

If you have diabetes, there’s a conversation you may never have had — and it matters: diabetes is the number-one cause of kidney disease. About four in ten adults with diabetes have it. And in the early stages, it’s completely silent.

Why the connection? Your kidneys are filled with tiny, delicate filters. Chronically high blood sugar slowly wears on them — quietly, over years, usually with no symptoms until a meaningful amount of function is already gone. Often the very first sign is something only a simple urine test can catch, long before you’d ever feel it.

Now the hopeful part, and the reason I find this work so rewarding: the thing damaging the kidneys here — blood sugar — is also one of the most changeable things there is. Better, steadier blood sugar measurably protects those filters. The same daily choices that steady your glucose also protect your kidneys and your heart. You are not powerless in this. Far from it.

I won’t lay out the full plan here, because the right plan depends on you — your numbers, your stage, your whole picture. But I want you to leave knowing two things: ask your doctor about a simple kidney check (eGFR and a urine ACR), and know that there is real, hopeful work to be done.

The Hidden Reason Chronic Conditions Don’t Improve

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

If you’re living with a chronic condition, you’ve probably done the things: the appointments, the prescriptions, maybe a diet or two off the internet. And still — stuck. Frustrated. Wondering what you’re doing wrong.

Here’s the reframe that changes everything: most chronic conditions don’t improve because the care is aimed at the symptom, not the source. Quiet the symptom and you feel better for a while — but if the root keeps driving it, it keeps coming back. It’s like bailing water without finding the leak.

The “leak” is usually not one thing. It’s a terrain — the interplay of your nutrition, your stress, your sleep, your other conditions, your body’s unique patterns. Generic advice misses it because generic advice isn’t built for your terrain. What helps one person can do nothing — or harm — for another.

That’s why two people with the same diagnosis can have such different journeys. The diagnosis is the label on the door. The root is what’s behind it. And finding your root — then building a plan around it, alongside your medical team — is a fundamentally different kind of care than chasing the symptom.

If you’ve been doing everything right and still feel stuck, you may not need to try harder. You may need to look deeper.

What Your Tongue Can Reveal About Your Health

June 27, 2026 by thebodycanbuild

Stick out your tongue in the mirror. Its color, coating, shape, and texture aren’t random — for centuries, natural-health traditions have read the tongue as one of the body’s most honest messengers, a visible window into what’s happening inside.

A pale tongue, a thick coating, scalloped edges, a map-like surface — each is a clue. Not a diagnosis, but a signpost: a hint about where the body may be under strain, often well before that strain shows up on a standard test. It’s part of why face, tongue, and fingernail analysis has become my signature: the body shows its story on the outside, if you know how to read it.

What I love about it is how personal it is. Two people with the same complaint can have completely different tongues — and completely different underlying pictures. That’s the whole point: your body is telling your story, and reading it is the start of a plan built for you, not a generic protocol.

I won’t pretend a glance at your tongue replaces a full assessment — it doesn’t. But it’s a remarkable starting point, and a glimpse of how much information your body is offering, if anyone takes the time to look.
